Thermal plant Stanari passes boiler hydro test

Stanari, December 23, 2014 – EFT’s largest investment project, the TPP Stanari, last week successfully passed the hydro test, one of the most important tests of endurance of the plant’s key parts for the production of electricity.

Given the fact that the equipment for the thermal power plant Stanari arrived in parts and was assembled on site, the hydro test to which the boiler was subjected was the system’s first ever performance check under pressure.

It took 15.5 hours and 1000 m3 of demineralized water to complete the test. More than 22,450 welds made during installation were checked.

Using at least one and half times the maximum operating pressure, the tightness and mechanical integrity of all parts of the boiler were double-checked to ensure safe and reliable operation of the boiler equipment, and thus of the entire plant. The test included all pressurized elements, from water supply system to steam exit.

The boiler system will be kept inactive until the start of the TPP’s trial operation, in the second half of 2015.
