As the EFT Group’s Financial Officer, Urs Jakob is responsible for the financial reporting, controlling and treasuring at EFT. He also acts as the Managing Director of EFT Switzerland, the Group’s principal trading arm.
Born in St. Gallen, Switzerland, Urs studied at the local University and was awarded Master of Arts HSG in Accounting and Corporate Finance. He began his professional career as auditor and controller with Schindler Management AG, one of the leading global elevator manufacturers, based in Lucerne, Switzerland. Here he gained international experience and background knowledge in industrial production, international trade, financial management and in the implementation of a worldwide group reporting system. The post was followed by a spell as a divisional controller at the Saurer Group.
Urs spent 14 years as Chief Financial and Operating Officer within the group executive management team of Jakob Schlaepfer & Co. AG, the leading supplier of decorated fabrics, sequins, embroideries to the fashion industry. In this position he gained extensive experience in financing, controlling, treasuring, trading mechanisms, business operations and IT.
Urs’ career led him to Bachofen AG, the industrial automation group based near Zurich. Here he was appointed as the Financial Director and took responsibility for finance and the central services departments of human resources, IT and logistics.
In 2001 he moved to Textilio.com, an electronic marketplace and service provider in e-commerce for the global textile industry, as member of the Executive Management Team with responsibilities for Finance and Operations and as CEO from the beginning of 2002.
In 2003 he was supporting companies in the IT sector and a non-profit organization as a business consultant before joining EFT in October 2003 as managing director of the newly setup principal company in Switzerland.
