Tomaž
is an energy utility manager with international experience in energy
sales as well as in the energy related legal issues.
Tomaž holds a Mechanical Engineering diploma from the University of Maribor,
where he graduated in 1996. Subsequently, he studied an MBA programme at the same University.
In 1998 Tomaž became the Director of the GLAS 2000 d.d. consultancy. His
engagement in the electricity sector coincided with the creation of the
electricity market in Slovenia. Tomaž applied experience gained in the
German electricity market and was the first to provide new services in
the Slovenian electricity market, offering contract negotiations,
pooling and other services for the industrial customers.
Tomaž subsequently joined Elektro Maribor d.d., the second largest
Slovenian distribution company in 2003, where he was appointed
Member of the Board. His responsibilities included primarily
electricity supply, trading, services and strategic development of
the company.
Tomaž is the founder and the Chairman of the annual international conference on electricity market and distribution ENERGIJA 09 (www.energija09.si), as well as a programme committee member of Transmission & Distribution Europe (www.td-europe.eu), guest lecturer at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, Member of the VaasaETT Advisory Committee (http://www.vaasaett.com/advisory-committee/) and a speaker at several international events, focusing on energy legislation issues, energy market design and electricity supply activities.
From 2009 he is a member of the Court of Honour of the Managers’ Association of Slovenia.
In addition to the listed responsibilities he has been a Chairman or Member of Supervisory Boards of 6 Slovenian companies during the last 10 years.
